BIOGRAPHY
Sandra Simich is an accomplished classical pianist who regularly performs as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician throughout California and Europe. Spanning various classical music styles — her performances permeate with maturity, passion and poetic expression.
Ms. Simich was born in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where she attended a school for the performing arts and later completed her Conservatory studies, receiving a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance. There she studied closely with Marian Mika, as well as taking classes with Irina Chukovskaya and Slava Gabrielov. She attended graduate school at San Francisco State University, working with Carlo Bussotti. Additionally, she has studied with renowned classical pianist and conductor Stephen Kovacevich.
Her most-celebrated appearances include piano recitals at both Steinway Hall and St. James Church, Piccadilly, in London. She has also performed as an artist in residence at the International Peace Conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia and with The Tamalpais Trio for the International Red Cross relief efforts in Kosovo. Ms. Simich has collaborated with many talented San Francisco Bay Area based musicians including Aenea Keyes, Anne Lerner-Wright, Susannah Barley, Seth Montfort, Matthew Montfort and Ayaka Isono. Ms. Simich also gave a world premiere performance of "Tangazzero", composed by San Rafael composer, Moses Sedler. Other notable collaborations include performances as a soloist with conductor Geoffrey Gallegos and the San Francisco Concerto Orchestra, a series of chamber music concerts with Pablo Galdo, as well as regular annual concerts with Alberto Portugheis as part of a Duo Piano series.
Ms. Simich has been a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) for more than 10 years. Currently, she teaches both children and adults in her piano studio in San Rafael, California — with students as young as 3-4 years old and her oldest student being 103. She was on the piano faculty of the San Domenico School in San Anselmo, California for 7 years.
