Alex Katsman

Imagine an exceptional pianist, performing some of the world’s most beautiful music on one of J-B Piano Co.’s prized Mason & Hamlin BB 7 ft. grand pianos — right here in Marin County, California.

That is exactly what will happen on September 12, 2026 at 4PM, at the 4th Annual Opera in the Hamilton Amphitheater.

If you haven’t made plans to attend, I hope you will. This promises to be a truly special afternoon of music, artistry, and community.

We will be delivering this beautiful Mason & Hamlin BB to the amphitheater at 1:30 PM, where it will take its place on stage for an extraordinary afternoon featuring extraordinary opera singers performing famous arias, duets, trios, and quartets by the great composers, Puccini and Mozart.

And at the piano will be Alexander Katsman.

Meet Alexander Katsman

I had the pleasure of meeting Alexander, a remarkably accomplished 36-year Russian veteran pianist, conductor, and vocal coach. I was so impressed and inspired by his musicianship and passion for classical music that I offered one of my prized pianos for this very special event.

Alexander is a pianist and member of the Vocal Studies faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His extensive career includes more than 60 opera, operetta, and musical theater productions. His conducting credits include La Traviata, Rigoletto, Carmen, La bohème, Madama Butterfly, and The Magic Flute.

He has also worked with numerous Bay Area opera companies and serves on the conducting faculties of the Bay Area Summer Opera Theater Institute and Opera Academy of California.

For J-B Piano Co, it is an honor to have Alexander perform on our Mason & Hamlin BB 7 ft. grand piano. To us, this piano is much more than a beautiful instrument. It represents the craftsmanship, artistry, and musical tradition that we have been proud to share with our patrons for over 70 years.

And hearing it played by a musician of Alexander’s caliber, surrounded by remarkable opera singers beneath the open sky, is something I believe will be unforgettable.

If the thought of Puccini and Mozart performed live beneath the open sky doesn’t give you chills, it should.

We invite you to join us for the 4th Annual Opera in the Hamilton Amphitheater on September 12 at 4PM and experience an evening of extraordinary music in a beautiful outdoor setting.
