Steinway B Grand 1996
When people say, "There's nothing like a Steinway!", this Steinway model B demonstrates what they're talking about.
Here is a 1996 instrument in fabulous condition—all original Steinway parts, very little wear on the hammers, great tonal balance throughout the entire range of the keyboard.
The treble has that quinticential Steinway bell-like clarity - singing and expressive without becoming harsh. In the midrange, the tone is warm and complex, the bass is deep and articulate, with just the right amount of growl when called for - never muddy, always controlled.
The action feels quite fluid and responsive. I would say it is on the lighter side, but still offering great control, from delicate to powerful passages. This is a deeply musical instrument with presence, nuance, and soul.
Most Steinway Artists own a Model B as their personal home and practice pianos. It is not too large for many living rooms yet large enough to be appropriate for a smaller concert hall or a church sanctuary. It is often the choice of serious amateurs or professional pianists. One of the great uses for the Model B is in recording studios. Nat King Cole recorded on the Model B at CBS studios, as well as many other fine jazz and classical artists.
By the way, if you're looking for more of a "vintage" piano, we also have 2 other Steinway Model Bs here and available at this time, from 1926 and 1914.
